Crime caper? "The Sting" or the original "Ocean's Eleven" (with Frank Sinatra & Dean Martin).

"Goodfellas" is the best at showing progression up the criminal chain.

"The Layer Cake" is a good representation of the lifestyle of criminal. A close second is "I Went Down" (an Irish film about rival mobsters that each has plate to print one side of a U.S. $20 bill).

"The Usual Suspects" is the best mystery.

"The Thomas Crown Affair" (the remake with Pierce Bronsan) has the best thought out capers.

"Casino" has the best depictions of how to avoid survelence.

In my opinion it's "Heat". The all-star cast includes; Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Val Kilmer, Ashley Judd and a young Natalie Portman.

Oceans 11 , I like them all watching the fountains at Ceasers while Claire de Lune is playing in the background.
