i'll tell you what we do...form after form after form to prove we are adequately preparing students for state testing. and all students do...train for and take practice tests, in order to prepare for the real tests. it's complete absurdity.

that's my angry side. in reality, i still get 3 or 4 good teaching days in, and i'm happy with the lessons i'm able to teach. but i DO wish i had more time to prepare and give some really exciting and inovative lessons, rather than spend my time doing admin. work...however, it's part of the job, and i accept it. our school has "lead" teachers who have several class periods free to do this work for us, and they are truly a gift from God! they track down materials for us, remind us of meetings, go to big meetings and report back to us so we don't have to go...they are wonderful.

The sad truth? I quit because of all the crap handed down from the good old boy admin. I loved the first three incredibly hard years of teaching. Then the admin sold out to the TAKS test! We were practice testing 26 days of the year! Then they said we all had to be on the same page doing the same thing every day, and none of the ninnies I worked with said anything about it to admin. They wasted no time, of course, complaining to each other and to me. Too bad. I miss those smart wonderful kids. I miss the kids who really needed me to tell them something good about themselves. :(

This is one of the most frustrating parts of the job! My school does nothing about it. In fact, they continue to have us fill out more and more and MORE forms!!!! It's exasperating. In fact, I just finished filling out inventory forms for a half an hour after school. Plus the three hours I spent last night filling out intervention forms for my failing students (I have 20 out of 120). AND the forms were supposed to be given to me 9 weeks ago!!!! Then, of course, I still have papers to grade and lessons to plan, etc. The administration seems to have no respect for a teacher's time at my school.
