I just purchased it today , it is a 1999 Jeep Grand Charokee. it has been working all day but tonight I went down to go to work and it will not start . it will turn on , but it will not turn over. I think it is a security system with the keys . how do I fix it?

it doesnt sound like the keys.... because if you can turn it on then its not the keys.... maybe it needs to be in Nuetral or maybe push it all the way into park. i had a car that if it isnt pushed all the way into park then it wont start. so maybe try that

Assuming you have a stable battery from what you reported, indexed under are the flaws i might look at so as of risk. a million. Starter Solenoid (mine is on the passenger area fender). 2. Starter motor (Pull it and characteristic it checked at NAPA or rebuild save) 3. loose twine to solenoid, to starter motor (and don't overlook each and every so often a stable finding twine is corroded, so verify it and sparkling all the connnections with sandpaper. 4. Ignition change (wish no longer!)

If you can turn the key and crank the engine it's not the key. You need compression, fuel and spark to make it run. check it out. I would guess the comprssion is ok as you said it was running.
