To get the reset trick to work, slide the lock button to the Locked position, then back to the Unlocked position, and then hold the Menu and Center button at the same time. This is supposed to be the official way to do it (though I've been able to get mine to work without sliding the lock button). Alternately, yes, plug it into the primary computer (first one you synced it with) and see if that fixes it. If it still doesn't reset the firmware through the iTunes program. If that still doesn't work, you'll need to take it to an Apple store or call them for info on where/how to ship it.
