I thought I was the only one who went though this, it will be a long time before you get your privacy back. For some reason my kids and my husband thinks that I don't do #2. the only time you will get even close to it is when everyone is sleep or gone. Sorry

LOL Sorry this is kinda funny to me because yes, i know this is wrong, but I will sometimes leave the door open when I go to the restroom and both my husband and I giggle if it's a #2. haha Now if it's a really bad #2 where you feel like you are dying, then yes, I do close the door... but sometimes it's fun to be silly - sorry I know it's gross. Our 15 month old son is in and out of the restroom when I'm up there- mainly so I can keep an eye on him because he will come to me if I call his name... and sometimes I shut the door if I know there's something he can get into. It's not always bad to be silly here and there.

Hi IMS !

Thanks for asking, anyway.
To be short and precise, but respectful at the same time, I´d suggest to you keeping you a private space and area for yourself in these few moments and minutes.
You probably should have done that years back as a way of marking your line within your family, now you can't complain too much, really.
On the other hand, take it with humour and show them how it is when they go to the bathroom doing something similar, see how they react.

Tell your family you love 'em a lot !

Receive best wishes from Xalapa in Mexico,
Christian.

P.S.: Funny idiomatic ways you guys got in english to say #1 or #2, although mexicans tell in a very similar way . . . In Germany they don´t.

Thats parenthood and married life... I don't remember the last time our door worked the way it should for any of my household... My wife and I constantly have conversations while one or the other is doing business... If it is of the even numbered persuasion we try to give eachother the privacy but otherwise... As for the kids well all bet are off. The Daughter doesn't know the meaning of wait. Good luck

I guess we mothers are all in the same boat. My daughters will have the audacity to complain about the smell but still refuse to leave the bathroom. If I lock the door they (i have 2 daughters) will try to pick the lock and break in or bug me so that my time is disturbed anyway!!!!

Well, like most moms, we take our babies to the restroom with us to keep an eye on them. Then its time to potty train and we are still taking them with us so they know "everybody" uses the toilet and they basically get show and tell lessons from mom and dad. After that it seems they don't grasp the idea that potty time is private time. Isn't parenthood a riot!
YOUR NOT ALONE, LOL!

By the way, sometimes the best way to have a conversation with my husband without him watching the TV and ignoring me is when he gets on the toilet!

Thats funny cause when I 1st had my child I was asking myself the same question and finally found out that it grows on you for your children and husband to bother you while being busy in the restroom.

yup my half brother is 4 and everytime i go towards the bathroom he jumps up and wants to come with, you have to physically put him outside the door and he'll stand there waiting for you to come out.
