We both made the choice to be with each other...and I have been faithful to her for 5 years now! I take her everywhere I go as long as the weather is good. Now why can't I declare my love to her!!!!!!!!! I also bought this really cute ring that fits her hand perfectly!

You both made the choice to be with each other for own selfish purpose. You - for wanting a companion and it - for being fed on time.

There have never been any human and beast relationships and/or marriage before. Well I don't see the reason why you can't declare this unique love that you have and marries your long-time sweetheart as long as she can say 'I love you' and 'I do'. If she can't says all that, maybe it's just wishful thinking on you part. Remember, there will not be any happiness in a forced relationship.

I suppose you can go back to the definition of marriage to see whether you really can "marry" an iguana. If you are a Christian (as far as I know), then marriage is defined as one between a man and woman. If you are more modernistic, perhaps you can accept either a man-man or a woman-woman marriage.

If you want to be seen as being married to your iguana, it's not how you see it, but how society sees it (since marriage is a term defined by the society we live in). If, however, you personally choose to view your relationship as a "marriage", then your personal view would qualify your relationship as a true marriage. This, however, is limited to your own view and not necessarily that of the society.

So the final question is: do you want society to see you as being married to your iguana, or you do not care how society sees it? If you care, then it may be hard; you will need to gain the acceptance of society (perhaps, by submitting your writing to a publisher). If you don't care how society sees it, you are of course free to see it the way you like it.

Apparently in Wisconsin, it's legal to marry a pet. Good luck to you! Remember, worst case scenario: move up here to Canada, where all love is free love.

Because it would be illegal. An inter-species marriage. That would be considered an atrocity.
