i have a bio quiz tomorrow. we are going to have to look in a microcope and tell if the organims is a plant or animal cell and what stage of mitosis it is in. other than seeing a cell wall how can you tell the difference from plant and animal cells? are there any clues to help decide what stage of mitosis it is in. we also have to put a slide into focus.. any suggestions

To decide it it's a plant cell, look for large vacuole and chloroplasts. As far as what stage of mitosis it's pretty self explanatory.

The plant cell will have a vacuole that is almost 90% of the cells area; you will know it when you see it. Googel mitosis and find good representations. Much better than explaining it to you here.

PS There is always one or two students sharp in microscopy; check them out.
