The world's first set of surviving octuplets (six girls, two boys) was born to a Houston, Texas (USA) couple, Nkem Chukwu (29) and Iyke Louis Udobi (41), at 9:00 a.m. central time on December 20, 1998.

So I would say 8 is max but the chances that all would survive is very low.

A woman can hold up to six babies in her womb which is called sextuplets. Any more babies in her womb would be unnatural and unhumane because she'd die if she had anymore or wouldn't even be able to move around with any more than that.

The largest officially documented pregnancy was 16 embryos.
Of course, sadly, pregnancies that large can't be carried into viability.
The amount that one woman can carry safely to term, or at least to a reasonably safe prenatal age has been "officially" maxed at ten fetuses, but i'd dare say the woman might not agree!!

I heard of a women who carried--and delivered--ten babies. They were really small (saw them in the newspaper a few years back) I don't really remember if all made it, though. I guess the body finds a way depending on the situation.

I think the most live birth were sextuplets (6 babies)

Although each baby adds more risks.
