dont get me wrong, i LOVE american idol. its the one chance for somebody who is passionate about singing to hit it big. is it just me, or are they picking on people this year? i mean, obviously, there are people on american idol who shouldnt be there, but they tried out because they really wanted to. it seems to me, that this year, they are really taking it too far, with the insults and comments. i remember the first season of american idol, it was either a "yes" or "no" with mabye a little comment from simon here and there. but its like, this year, they are taking all (and only) the really bad auditions, and airing thoes, so they can "make fun" of the people who really bombed, because they know that its what america wants to see. not once so far, have i heard the judges tell somebody "its good, but you need improvement". so far, all i've seen is some very rude comments. its just not the same anymore! does anybody agree?

i really think they should use more constructive criticizm like they USED to. remember the guy from the first season, who had some sort of mental illness? he sung a song that was originally done by ricki martin at his audition. the judges thought it was horrible, but they were nice about it (except for simon, of course). but the guy ended up with a record deal anyway (not through american idol) because he was brave enough to show people that he loved to sing, even though he probally knew he want any good? some of the people on there tonight, obviously was in the same boat that the other guy was in, but i think that the judges are just sick of thier job and are taking it out on the contestants who fail miserably. it really isnt the same anymore. i thought paula was quitting this year? whats up with that?

it's called american idol, not "america makes fun of people even though they shouldnt be on tv, so lets air that horrible audition anyway and see how much the ratings go up idol" am i right?

I agree it is out of hand. It is for the ratings though. And just think, theese people go through producers before they get sent in to the judges. I think it's sad for the people who think they have a chance but really suck.

I've watched American Idol every season and this year it does seem the judges relish picking on and making fun of the contestants. When you look at some of them and hear them, it's kind of hard not to, but still, the judges are the professionals with real, valid credentials to back them up and they shouldn't make personal attacks. Seems like it's The Randy Show, The Paula Show, and of course, The Simon Show or else they're auditioning for some role we don't know about and they're trying to win some obscure award at the next Emmy's or something. I'll be glad when the auditions are over and we don't have to be subjected so much to bad singing and cutesy, hurtful remarks.

yeah, I never liked the show at all! But I agree with you, it's obvious that they caught on that at the beginning of the season, the people who are bad can be bigger than the people who are good.(william hung) Now they just throw on a bunch of clips of awful singing and rip on it because they know people will laugh and love it. AI is probably not that expensive of a show to produce especially for how much it brings in. Let's not rule out the idea that they could pay some people to make complete A**es of themselves to provide a little more entertainment in the beginning when the competition isn't so fierce. I haven't seen it this year but I heard there was a girl who sung like the lion from Wizard of OZ? who would wait in line 5 hours or whatever to do that? Maybe someone. scary. And I saw an advertisement that wherever they were tonight was the worst auditions ever. It's obvious they're banking on ripping on the people who don't stand a chance.

I agree with you in some ways. You have to admit, if you were in that situation (as a judge) with the overall lack of talent you may be tempted to do something similar, I mean at that point it is either laugh or cry. A lot of crazies have come out of the woodwork so far, and I am sitting on my couch laughing. Simon has toned it down (other than the monkey eye comment, and the sunburn thing tonight). With Simon he is usually a cordial guy until they give him attitude, but Randy is starting to get mean, and Paula is out of it a lot of the time.
I would be incredibly frustrated at the number of tone-deaf people coming out to sing for hours at a time and then getting pissy when they get a bad review.
It gets mean spirited at times, but all of these people signed up for it, you can't tell me they don't know the risk of stepping up in front of those three...especially since this is year 6.
I just hope they find some pure talent without a whole hell of a lot of attitude/diva tendencies. I also hope that America votes for the right people.

It's all about ratings............Simon prefaces EVERY statement this season with "I am not being rude...." I heard them say people needed improvement and that this isn't the "career path" for them. I think they have gone soft this year and are taking more CRAP than they have in the past. If I had to sit through those horrible auditions I would be far less gracious than they have been.

The reason they even lets the really bad people through to the real judges is so people who watch think that everyone who tries out gets see the famouse judges and so they can so Simon rolling his eyes and making funny faces.

I agree completly!
Simon especially!
He made fun of that one mans eyes too.
Simon has gone too far, Sure he made and created the show but that doesn't give him any right what so ever to treat people the wway he has been. I love the show also. I have been watching it for the past nights. They're all just as bad too. I think they have no right. Sure some people shouldn't be there but that just proves they're confident. If they keep taking it too far, someone will sue.

No, I love every minute of American Idol, I can't believe that some of these people actually believe that they are even a little good. I think they just want to be on t.v. Some of the people tonight were pretty bad!!

I never liked it,ever. All the judges are rude jerks the only winner who could ever sing is Kelly Clarkson. It should have been cancelled after she won and then Fox should have put Family Guy on in its place.I love America but I hate American Idol!!!!
