Almost right in the middle. The movement began in 1954 with the Supreme Court's decision in Brown v. The Board of Education of Topeka, Kansas and basically concluded with the assassination of Dr. King in mid-April 1968. The August 1963 March on Washington came kind of in the middle.

Mr Curious is mostly right. Civil rights activities started long before Rev King. The 54 Supreme Court decision really highlighted the movement and brought it to the front of the American People. King became involved latter but was and still is the strongest leader of the Black Movement. Perhaps if he had lived things would have moved forward faster. Someone that was most important in Civil Rights was Lyndon Johnson. AS a Southerner and a Democrat he knew his party was lost in the South as it still is for a long time. I did not;t always like him because of Nam but he was a man of courage. King couldn't do as much without Johnson signing the CIVIL RIGHTS BILL.

The Civil Rights Movement was a longterm thing. It included many marches, so I am not sure of the one you are asking about. But the answer is "during".
