I have had problems with yeast infections since I was a baby....I am now 23. Diflucan works great but that is usually prescibed by your doctor. As for over the counter....all there really is that I have seen is the creams. 7 day is the best one to get!!! Don't get anything less than the 7 day! I say that because the 3 day and 5 day is not enough time to clear it up and will come back. The 7 day cream (as I have been told by Gyn) is more effective. I know you wanted something else, but I am afraid this is all I know. And the Monistat 7 is what I use and works great for me. Good Luck hon!

Hello, I'm on the second week and seeing definite improvement on my yeast infection symptoms:

Note that: If the yeast infection doesn't respond to over the counter treatment, prescription medication will likely be necessary. Similarly, if the symptoms return after two months of being treated, you should contact the doctor for professional treatment rather than resorting again to home treatment.

If this is the first time you have experienced a yeast infection, you should schedule an appointment to have the condition treated by a doctor instead of resorting to home treatment

I learnt when my son was small ( and yes, boys can get yeast infection too ) that eating yogurt helps to get rid of it.It replenishes the good bacteria we have in our bodies that helps to fight off such things. My son had many ear infections when he was small and every time he took antibiotics he would get a yeast infection. I hated giving him too much medication so his doctor offered this as a solution to the yeast infections and it worked !! ... over and over again. You can also use natural yogurt externally to help the irritation. Good luck, hope it helps!!

This may sound VERY gross but it does work! Buy PLAIN yogurt with LIVE CULTURES. Number one eat it and save back some and place it in your vagina (wear a mini pad) wear only COTTON panties. Don't wear jeans that are to tight. The live cultured yogurt has something in it that helps balance out your natural vaginal bacteria.

You can take a tampon & soak it in yogurt. The yogurt MUST have Live & Active cultures in it. Then insert the tampon & leave in overnight. You can repeat this for a few days to insure that your infection is gone. It is completly safe to do.

I find probiotics are helpful, also tea tree oil and grapefruit seed extract.

Eat lots and lots of yogurt. It has to be yogurt with LIVE CULTURES in it, though.
