doomsday clock?

ok im just wondering what the doomsday clock means and what will happen if it hits midnight plz explain it to me!?!?!?!?!?

People have answered it, but to me it seems pretty idiotic. I mean once it hits midnight we're going to be "okay" and... It is supposed to hit midnight when it's doomsday and the wipe out of earth will start. It's a group of scientist who control the clock, it's pretty dumb to me. I know there analyzing everything politically, socially, and all of that, but c'mon now, it's like making a guess. You can say it's a hypothosis but to me only God knows when, not some dudes in some lab coats controlling a clock.

The Doomsday Clock is a symbolic clockface maintained since 1947 by the Board of Directors of the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists at the University of Chicago. It uses the analogy of the human race being at a time that is "minutes to midnight" where midnight represents destruction by nuclear war. The clock has appeared on the cover of each issue of the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists since its introduction.

The number of minutes before midnight, an arbitrary measure of the degree of nuclear threat, is updated periodically. The clock is currently set to five minutes to midnight, the most recent time adjustment having been made on January 17, 2007.

The clock is an indication of how dangerous our situation is considered to be by a group of Scientist. With in a couple years after the first two bombs were dropped in anger the clock was set to a few minutes before Midnight. This was to indicate that they thought that mankind was close to blowing itself up. during the cold war it was moved even closer to Midnight. This was to indicate their concern for how dangerous having two enemies with the ability to destroy the world many time over each. Recently the scientist moved the clock to again be withing a few minutes of Midnight. They say that the possibility of terrorists getting their hands on a nuclear bomb is real.

in the starting up, you should all take it sluggish and relax about this stupid clock, why even difficulty questioning about it besides? i mean , are ya gonna be like "OH CRAP" if or maybe as the great of the international is right here?? is it going to even count number to you? i understand for a incontrovertible reality that i'd be like huh, properly must have considered that coming. if some thing does ensue, only experience free of the belongings you've executed in existence, and forget some thing.

how close we are from wiping out the earth. Isn't it amazing how the mayan prediction of 12/21/12 is seeming to fall right into place. I mean think about it, let's say within the next 2 years a global war breaks out (which is not a far fetched idea). So now it's 2009. Once everyone gets geared for war another year will probably go by. in late 2009 the fighting begins with iran attacking israel with nuclear arms; israel is wiped out. The united states and england will respond quickly, and blow the crap out of most of the middle east with our nukes. Now russia and china are really pissed off, along with n. korea and take out england, and europe altogether. Now it's the the end of 2009 and venezuela nearly hits the united states with a nuclear weapon, and the US blows the crap out of central and south america, just launching one nuke after the other until all of it is destroyed, a in june of 2010 an astounding turn of events with japan wiping out n. korea and half of china. we only have 4 countries remaining in the global war. allies are japan and United states, enemy is china and russia. China and russia move in on japan, and unfortunatly with japan nearly taking out china is destroyed but with china being so close to being wiped out the united states easily defeated them. So now 9/100 of the pop remain. it's march/april 2012, when the united states surprizingly ships all of it's citizens out and takes the battle to russia (our newest technology helps us be undetected by radar and easily make it to russia without underwater attack. By the time everyone is set it's early august 2012. We get off on the western part of russia and move our way in to the right. Now we have split into three sectors of russia (western, middle and eastern parts). Russia is stunned and is losing badly. so after 3 months of fighting and the united states beating on russia, russia is forced to use it's last 3 nukes to blow up their own country and take america with them and on December 21, 2012 it's all over, total annihilation of the planet. Everyone and everything on earth is gone. the point is u better gear up for a global war, and expect it to end in the next few years.
