Like in the old days when musicians would sit together, and record themselves playing songs/albums from start to finish. As opposed to today's highly engineered and mastered recordings that can make almost anybody sound good.

The White Stripes record only with an analog 8 track, and older microphones. My band records live.

Allot of bands release live recordings, which does almost the same thing. trouble is, its fun messing with the music you make. i don't always think its a question of bravery. too many bands now days over produce. thats the problem.

More than likely not. I have the song Cold by Crossfade that was recorded before they were even famous. It sounds like crap. So no, I don't think they would.

one of incubus's albums, i think it was morning view, possibly make yourself, was recorded with each instrument at the same time ("live"), as opposed to individually then put together.

I would say probably not because unfortunately a lot of bands a really terrible live.
