Ordinarily, I would recommend a Yahoo! product. However, Yahoo! Video does not include an option to make your videos private or to limit those who can view your videos to the people you select.

Google probably offers the best solutions and there are two ways to go. There is "Google Video beta" and the recently acquired "YouTube". Many think they will combine the two at some point in the future.

As far as the Google Video beta is concerned, once you have a Google account, you can go directly to a video upload page, add descriptive information, and choose to make your video public or keep it unlisted. Once you have uploaded your video, you can easily post it to MySpace, Blogger, LiveJournal, or TypePad. You can also easily embed your videos in your own website. Users report slow upload times and poor quality video in addition to limited sharing options. The Google Video beta is pretty bare bones.

YouTube is recognized as having a higher video quality and they surely have many more privacy and sharing options. You can make your video public or private, allow or disallow comments, and prevent others from embedding your video on their sites. The uploads are reliable and seem to go faster than the Google Video beta, but it can take them up to 30 minutes to process and make available a three minute video.

In the end, the choice is yours. You should probably check out the features of both sites before you make a decision. Here are links to the two services:

By the way, I recommend that you pick up a copy of the February 6, 2007 issue of "PC Magazine" at your newstand. It has a comprehensive multipage article on "Online Video" that will be invaluable to you as you get started.

Good luck with your video projects.
