Im going to take it that youre replacing existing lights for flourescent ones so the wiring is already there. If the lights are the round typr simply take down the old ones and replace with new ones, simply keep same colored wires together and hopefully power is off. If the new ones are the 4 or 8 ft long type, take out the center knock out out of the fixture as this will center over your existing wires. Your best bet is to toggle bolt each end to hang the lights. If your ceilings arent prewired you may want to consider finding an electrician willing to do it as a sidejob which will save you a whole lot of money.

is there any electrical point at the ceiling? just install at the place you want, connect the wire and install the tuib. thats all.
