The level of education determines whether you have a job, career, or profession. The level of education determines the level of advancement available in your chosen career or profession and the amount of income possible.

Provided that you work in an industry for which your schooling may be relevant, an education is most certainly beneficial for obtaining a job, moving up in position, and justifiable wages.

Education without experience is like being well-armed - you may not know what you will come up against, but you're much better prepared to deal with it.

Education with experience is the best of both worlds. Not only have you proven that you took the time to become formerly educated on the details and intricacies of what it means to be an accountant, or a teacher, or the justice system - but you have real-world experience to augment and enhance that education thus making you a more proficiently hireable person.

And being such an educated and experienced person - you have that much more justification in what salaries you can expect. A company is also more willing to pay this person a higher salary, with that reason.

A formal education completed up to undergrad is important, but for many reasons that you might not be considering. For the people who elected not to complete their studies, they are at a slight disadvantage when trying to enter a new field, starting a business, and/or networking due to their limited formal education and job experiences. Likewise if someone possesses only academic experiences and has limited work, volunteer, internship experiences, their network tends to be small and they also are at disadvantage.

So exactly HOW does a education benefit someone? Quite simply the extra time spent completing your formal education provides you with certain opportunities others do not have. First, you gain exposure to diverse fields through academics, internships, and volunteering. Second, your networking opportunities are quite simply golden. Rarely will you find so many people gathered with like interests, desires/aspirations, in one classroom and/or one venue. Some of the contacts you make in college/universities will become invaluable to you and them once you go out to conquer the world. Third, everyone needs time to physically, emotionally, and spiritually mature. The time away from all of the demands of adulthood is quite simply one of the best investments you can make for yourself in your life. There is no need to rush out there and work or to "find yourself" many things in life are like fine wine and require time to mature. Fourth, there's a good chance during your time in academia you will find things you are passionate about. I.e. law, science, arts, business, helping others, etc and success in those fields will require additional formal educational. As such, it is largely due to your time in college that you will become exposed to these opportunities/options available to you.

Remember, if you possess both a formal education and a diverse work, internship, and volunteering background, you will be considerably more well rounded than someone either straight out of college or who has only worked.

Lastly, it is the culmination of your rich experiences in academia that really shapes your values, friendships, networking, goals, hopes, and dreams. Although obtaining an undergraduate degree is fast becoming the new high school diploma, the four to five years spent in academia are invaluable to your growth and future potential. So if you are considering entering do it and if you've been out, get back in! There is no better time in your life than the present to take charge and create the happy future you desire! Good luck!

It depends on what kind of education you are getting. If you invest in your education and you go thru with it, you will not regret it, but it must be something that you can use to either A. get a job (one that is in need of workers) or B. start a business. I just spent $300.00 on a Seminar in Dallas, Tx and the information I came out of it with was priceless! I couldn't get this kind of education anywhere else! With this information, my business has taken off!

Education is important, but not the end all. If you want to be a doctor, you NEED a specific degree, but if you want to excel in business you don't - though it helps tremendously.

I think that it is all about options. The more options you have in life, the more chance you have at financial and personal success. Formal education opens up options - I'm all for it.
