I have this toy in my room that plays I got you babe by sonny and cher. It keeps coming on by itself no matter where we put it. I am wondering what could cause it to come on by itself.

Check the batteries. When the batteries start winding down, little electronics will start acting up. My child had a little Kasey the Robot and when the batteries were almost dead, he would come on during the night or wierd times during the day. Changed the batteries and the problem stopped.

It would seem to me that a number of reasons could be causing it to go off. First of all you would have to identify what causes it to normally start playing the song. For instance if you open up the toy and the song starts, then it would be safe to assume that due to wear and tear the hinge inside the toy that moves and completes the circuit that allows the song to play is loose and that is what is causing it to turn on at random times. If this is true when you shake it it should turn on. Another option could be that there is something in the mechanism that is completing the circuit and that when it moves it activates the song. It all kind of depends on what kind of mechanism the toy operates on. I'll be on roughly 21 hours from this post, if you could tell me how it activates i could give you a better answer.

Take the batteries out. Chances are it won't happen then.

Also, don't automatically assume ghosts. The television in my son's room was turning itself on every morning at 6:30. It took a week before we realized that at some point he accidentially hit something and set the alarm!

Well I won't rule out the paranormal, but if it has a simple switch or button it could be just shorting out. This includes stuffed animal or somthing like that where you can't see the switch, but underneath there is one. If there's a way to take the battery out and it still does it, you've got something strange going on!!

If you are really concerned that it is a ghost, (try the batteries first) then try saying in a calm but firm voice, "Please stop messing with things. It is upsetting me. I want you to go away from here." some people say to tell it to go toward the light. Or put salt around your house. If you do these things and it stops coming on, then you may have had a ghost but got it to go away.

Electric toys get shorts in the wiring often. If you shake it sometimes you will hear it come on breifly.

you can get a serious answer if you ask experts to check it out.

for my own opinion, i think something is possessing your toy and trying to leave a message. but dont you worry its not going to harm you or your family.
