You should go. If you love her then you need to say goodbye. You'll be missing that closure if you don't...you'll always wish you could of said goodbye to her. It's okay to cry and mourn too, don't be afraid to do that.

if you want to be there with her then you should go...but if you dont think you can handle it I'd have your parents take her..Keep in mind if you take her and go back with her then you'll have to watch them putting her to sleep and that might not be an image you want with you forever. I dont think it matters, just as long as someone goes with her, so shes not alone.
Edit- Im sorry people are trying to guilt you into not doing whats best for your pet, if she's old or has a tumor, the tumor will grow and grow until it bursts, putting her in more pain than any vet could do. And for the record, and your peace of mind, I worked in an animal hospital for almost 4 years.. Ive seen more than my fair share of animals being put to sleep and I assure you, It's not a painful process. It IS just like going to sleep for them, they dont know the difference.

I think that is a personal decision and there is not a right or wrong answer, and you shouldn't feel guilty if you don't feel like you can deal with it. But since you did ask for an opinion, I personally have chosen to be with pets that I have had to put down. I found it comfoting to know they went peacefully and that they were not alone. I used to work as a vet tech and have seen euthanasia performed many times. please be comforted in knowing it is a peacful way to go.

i had my rat put down a few years ago! It was a very hard thing to do, but humane as he was very sick! If you love your pet, i think you owe it to it to take it, so you have the opportunity to hold him in his last bit of life! If you can't do it on your own, take someone with you for support! I won't deny is will be very hard, but that's life for you! Good luck, and i hope you make the right decision for you!

You shouldn't have your animal put down whatsoever. Hear me out on this.
Would you rather die at home, warm, with the people you love around you? Or in a terrifying enviroment that smells of death, fear, pain and other unpleasantness-one you associate with pain... or you've never been to before?
And despite what they say-it's -not- as if they're going to sleep. They die in just as much pain as if they died naturally. I'm sorry your rat is dying... but if you love her, don't kill her.
