I totally agree. I have not seen any of the "ugly" people getting through. Nor have I seen any of the people who may or may not have a disability get any respect from the judges. They just make fun of them and make them feel terrible. It makes me so angry. I mean some of the contestants are really just being funny...but some of them really believe that they are an ok singer and they come on and are just attacked. I wish they would treat these people with a little respect, I mean they are what is keeping up their life style.

I do think "looks" is part of what the show caters to because it's all about finding someone who is marketable. It's not a talent competition, it's about finding someone who fits the "total package". I have seen a lot of really good vocalists who didn't fit the typical "cookie cutter" pop star mold and were passed over in favor of some who were more attractive and sang consistently off-key. It creates drama, and drama creates ratings, hence why the show is successful.

If AI was all about getting through on your looks, people like Clay Aiken, Ruben Studdard, Scott Savol, Bucky Covington, Kevin Covais, Elliott Yamin, Mandisa, and Frenchie Davis wouldn't have gotten as far as they did.

Well i think that looks having something to do with who gets picked for American Idol but i think most of it is on there singing
