Depends entirely on the relationship that they have with the nephew in question. If the nephew's there to take care of them and expresses a genuine interest in them, they'll leave something to them. (But not everything. If the friends help them out too, then they'll get something as well. Only fair, right?)

It depends on weather the nephews swooped in at the last minute and while the elderly person was half gone had them turn over most of their asset's to them....it's really sad and remember, what goes around will eventually come around....I'm so sorry, I know this sounds bad, but it happened to our family, this person, who no one knew existed, came out of no where and took alot of what my grandfather told us all, on a regular basis, was there for all of us....he died first then my grandmother went over the deep end ..

I would leave it to whomever was closest to me. If my friends were more like family than neices and nephews, then they would get my fortune.

It's a sad statement, though because the relatives should be there more for an elder with no children of her own to care for her.

if they have a good relationship with their family i guess they'd leave them stuff.
if they don't even know the family, why would they leave them anything?

its highly likely that family will be recognised first.....however there are instances where friends will be considered....especially if the family are estranged....
