Right click and click delete... or hilight and press delete on your keyboard. Be aware that deleting icons for programsfrom your desktop doesnt delete the program from your computer. However, if you delete file icons from your desktop, that does delete the file.

You can run the unused icon wizard for the icons on your desktop by opening
Control Panel>Display>Desktop Tab, click customize desktop and under desktop cleanup click Clean Desktop Now.
I dont know what other unused icons there could be laying around on your system, but I'm willing to help with your problem further if you use instant messaging by adding me, BigCardinalsFan@msn.com

The best way it to uninstall the program that the icon is for....you can do this by going to the add/remove part of the control panel (Start -> settings -> control panel).
You can right click on the icons and than chose delete, however, this does not delete the program, only the link to the program

You left click then, then press the Delete button. If you want to remove the associated program from your computer, then you have to go to Control Panel and Add/Remove Programs and select the program you want to remove.
