I am doing a project on the eye, and I have to explain what it has to do with light. I understand that it needs light to go through it to work, but what else do I need to know. Answers are very appreciated!!!

Light is the only thing the human eye can recognize. Basically light reflects off of everything we see, and onto our retina, where photoreceptors (rods and cones) recognize specific wavelengths of the light by absorbing the photons. The signals are then sent via the optic nerve and optic tract into the brain, where the brain computes it all, and decides what it is we are actually seeing.

That's easy. The human eye is affected majorly upon light. (I don't know the whole story to this, but just enough) Such as, the more light in an area, the smaller your pupils become, and the less light, the bigger. (Try standing in front of a mirror, turn off the lights, and wait awhile, then flip your lights on quickly and watch your pupils, it's sooooo cool!) That's all I know sorry... ^-^' Hope this helps a little

The visual sense depends entirely on reflected light. Objects in our environment reflect light that enters our eye, forms an image and transmits information to our brain for processing. This being said is important to recognise the difference between photoreception and vision and thus a difference between photoreceptors and eyes. Photoreception and phototaxis (reaction to light) is observed in single cell animals, microorganisms and lower invertebrates, who neither sense nor are conscious of the light. The term "eye" is generally reserved for organs with a photoreceptory epithelium (the retina) and a lens to focus the light into an image. Vision occurs when this image is electrically transmitted to the brain for conscious analysis and response.
