This movie is kind of blurry but there was this former teacher who was fired/quit after he got into a car accident and his face became really deformed. He was accused of having an inappropriate relationship with one of his old students (whom I think was in the car accident). A boy comes to learn from him later and most of the movie is about him and that boy.

The movies starred Mel Gibson as Justin McLeod an ex-teacher who is horribly scarred from a car accident and fire. The boy in the film that became his pupil named Charles E. 'Chuck' Norstadt is played by a Nick Stahl ("Bully", "Terminator 3", "Sin City"). There is a boy in the car with him during the accident that dies. He is convicted of involuntary manslaughter and accused being a pedophile (although he of course wasnt). This, and his deformity, lead him to a life of seclusion as a "freak" until he befriends the young boy whom he teaches as he learns to deal with his own problems. The film also marked Mel Gibson's directorial debut. The movie is really about prejudices and that whole, "dont judge a book by its cover" saying.
