This isn't about the age at which it's okay to 'fornicate'.

Rather, the people who believe it's okay to have sex at 25 but not 15 don't feel that pre-marital sex is a sin. They think that pre-marital sex is fine, but feel that teenagers are too young to be making such decisions and having sex, too immature to have to deal with something that needs not be entered into lightly. Thus, you get the different standards applied to different ages.

Remember, not everyone is a Christian and not everyone believes that pre-marital sex is wrong. If there are Christians who believe that pre-marital sex is fornication and wrong for teens but somehow right for adults, then I'd agree with you- they are being hypocrites. But I think the majority of people either say 'No sex before marriage, no matter how young or old, period.' or they say 'Pre-marital sex is cool, but you should do it when you're mature enough.'.

Hope that helps.

By today's standards and laws yes it is wrong for a 15 yr old to have sex with a 25 yr old. However in the early 1900s back thousands of years there was no problem at all and occurred often. Most girls were married by 12 or 13 and had children by the time they were 14. I personally believe as long as it is consensual by all those concerned it is no ones business if they do. If the 15 yr old is coerced into having sex then no it is not right. Teens today are much more informed than they were even 20 to 30 years ago. They understand consensual and rape.

Adults tell teens not to have sex because a teen's mind is still developping, and therefore they might not be able to make sound judgement. Still, most people lose their virginity around 15-16. But the sex laws exist to stop adults from exploiting 15-16 year olds for porn (because, once you turn 18, you are allowed not only to have sex but to star in porn.) The harmful thing about starring in porn isn't the sex, but the fact that it will follow you your entire life and that it can negatively impact your job chances.

Your ABSOLUTELY CORRECT that there is a double standard for teens.

BUT HERE'S WHY! We would rather ERR ON THE SIDE OF CAUTION AND LOVE than have "young adults" making the SAME MISTAKES many of us did! That's right, "many of us," there's a reason for wisdom, its to keep younger people from getting hurt or going through the same sheer h*ll. I read all these questions about people going through heartache and it hurts because I see myself 20 years ago, and I wish I could make the pain go away, but YOU CAN'T, only time will fix your own wounds. Time and experience. We HAVE THE EXPERIENCE, but people don't want to HEAR ABOUT OUR EXPERIENCES they want their own, as painful as that will be!

That's why all the silly rules, etc., your parents, friends and family and even surrounding society, NOW you won't have it easy or fun at certain times in your life and want to protect you, but ultimately know they will fail. However, that doesn't stop them from trying!

It's mostly to stop teen pregnancy. I don't think it has a purpose outside of that.

Once you're past 18 and out of college, you should logically have enough good judgment to make those kinds of decisions. Whereas when you're 15 or 16? Not so much.

The bible also says to obey the laws of the land. I guess that would apply to underage teenagers.

I agree that sex should not be treated as lightly as it is in society. Heterosexual or Homosexual relationships both applying. However I must ask, why is this in the LGBT section?

Logically a 25 year old is more able to make good decisions about sex.

Fornication BWAHAHAHAHAHA!

If it is safe, consentual, and legal do whatever feels good. There are too many other things in the world to ponder other than people's sexual activity.

There is one goal in life and that is to have sex with as many people as possible. Every adult who says anything differently is insane. Do waht you want and have fun doing it.
