Try the Dawn test. Take a pan or bowl or something that has been filled with water and has that film of grease floating on top. Place a drop of Dawn in the middle and watch the grease quickly go to the sides of the pan. It is cool. It works wonders and doesn't dry out your skin either.

All of your previous "DAWN" answerers are correct. My niece just finished a science fair project on this and it was Dawn hands down. Palmolive was a distant second place.

In addition, Consumer Reports magazine rated dawn as the #1 for grease and the best buy for amounts it took to conquer tough dish problems.
