My laundry doesn't come out clean. What can I do to have whiter, brighter clothes with great smell? Should I just run the washer with water and detergent only to wash the inside of the washer or is not necessary?

Sometimes wash does not all come clean when the washer is packed with too many items of clothing. They can not tumble and agitate freely to come clean. Be sure to pretreat all stains with a pretreat, wash the clothing with the right water temperature, check label. Be sure to separate clothing according to color (wash whites and jeans separately) and temperature. It is better to wash clothing with a name brand detergent such as Tide, they do perform better. If does not hurt to clean the washer as well. I do periodically by spraying a good foaming cleaner all over the inside of the washer, let sit for a few minutes, then wipe with a rag. Fill the washer with water, no soap and run through a rinse cycle.

No, I don't think that will work. Are you sure you are not overloading the washer? My 14 year old does that. She puts about two loads into one. When you fill your washer next time, make sure the clothes have plenty of room to swish around. They have to swish alot to get clean and smell good. If you are overloading, they don't get to swish. And the soap is not enough for all that. So fill it with you clothes in there, then stick your hand in a few times to see how freely you think they are going to be able to move. If you do that you'll be able to start judgeing how much to put in. Also, I use two caps of soap for a full load. And, if you use liquid fabric softner, that makes your clothes smell really great. Hope this helps.

you need to make a real effort to get laundry clean, if you have all whites you can use clorox and hot water, but you should go over all the clothing first and spot treat the spots on it, if its greas use shout aresol that is good at killing mild grease stains, if its food use stain stick or something of that sort, if its paint or ball point ink use oops or goo gone do this on every important piece of laundry, then put all of like colors together. dont use clorox on anything but whites and not on nylon even if it is white. white bras and such i put in a large bowl and pour a quart of hydrogen peroxide on, let sit half an hour and then wash warm. colors you can use a colorsafe type bleach like clorox 2 as well as going over them for spot treatment as well, when things have been washed then inspect them to make sure the stain came out, if it didnt you can retreat and rewash, but never put anything in the dryer if it has a stain, dryers will set stains eternally.wash darks together. try not to wash delicate things with heavy things like jeans. use fabric softener if you like for a nicer smell, you can use the washer kind in the rinse or you can use dryer sheets, or you can do both. some things need scrubbing, like sock bottoms, i put laundry soap on the sock and lay it on the washer lid and use a stiff brush on it to help get those really dirty sock bottoms cleaner. kids will run around outside in just socks if you dont watch them like a hawk.

I love Borax (Muleteam Borax). It's very old fashioned but it really does work.. and like someone else said, don't overload your washer. :)

Also, for stains my favorite remedy is 1/2 Tide liquid and 1/2 Dreft powder. It swells so beware. I use a paint brush to brush onto the stains. I keep it for a couple of days in container and just use as needed. I let it dry for a day or so onto the fabric and wash as normal. I've gotten a lot of old stains out of clothes with this. :) Works miracles on baby clothes;)

When You do wash, do you separate the Whites from the colored wash. That's important, Now if the whites are dingy, then you should try Tide with Bleach, or use Bleach separately and use Tide regular. Now for the Colored wash don't use hot water, and use tide. But if your clothes are not separated then the whites will never look good. If you want to clean your washing machine, use 2 cups of white vinegar and run it through without any thing else in it.

If you add baking soda to you washing cycle it make your laundry detergent do a much better job and makes them smell cleaner. If you add white vinegar to the 1st rinse cycle it will get all the detergent out of your clothes and ofcourse a liquid fabric softner will definetly make the smell good and softer.
