The Battle of Velasco was a 19th century battle between the Republic of Mexico and the rebelling Mexican state of Coahuila y Tejas.

The battle was fought 26 June 1832 between rebelling Texas colonists and Mexico prior to the Texas Revolution. The Mexican commander during the conflict, Domingo de Ugartechea, tried to stop the Texans from transporting a cannon up the Brazos River to attack the city of Anahuac. The Texans, led by Brazoria alcade John Austin and schoolteacher and farmer Henry Smith. The Texas militia eventually prevailed over the greatly outnumbered Mexicans. Ugartechea, after a three day battle, realized he would not be receiving reinforcement and was running low of munitions. The casualties for the battle numbered at eight to ten dead and a dozen wounded for the Texans, and five killed and fifteen injured for the Mexicans.
