Sometimes it is funny when he makes a perky comment but when he jokes about their physical appearance it can be offensive. People can't help what they look like and I think that this show should be based on singing ability rather than appearance.

Yes, I think he was especially mean this time around. Randy was also unnecessarily mean too. American Idol is just getting too mean spirited for me. And yes, I agree.....the show should be centered on singing ability NOT the way they look.

Simon is my favorite judge on American Idol--he usually offers the most valid opinion. I've agreed with (nearly) everything he has said.
Everyone knows that Simon is very critival--and if they can't take criticism well, then they need to find another way to show their talents that don't involve being *judged*.

Yes, Simon can be an asshole sometimes, but that's just the kind of guy he is, he's honest and blunt.You will get offended, but you will have to live with it.And sometimes, he has every right to be an idiot to some of those jackoffs who can't sing.

Simon isn't being mean...He is a professional in the music business and he is being truthful to these people. I admit he could be a little more tactful, but he isn't being mean.

The first season I was offended by his attacks. Now, people know what they are getting into so I have no pity for them. He says those nasty things for ratings, and it seems to be working.

I don't think so. people should accept the outcome and what is said to them and don't be offended by it, just have fun with it.
