That system is worth $100-150. Of course, you could probably get $200 or more, if you sold every component individually. BTW, you keep the software, you just have to uninstall it from the old computer.

You should be more specific when describing the specifications. The 40GB HDs run at what speed (5400rpm or 7200rpm)? 64MB Nvidia graphic card is what model (Geforce 3, 4MX, 4Ti, FX 5000 series)? USB ports are 1.1 or 2.0? McAfee has how long a subscription until it expires? MS Office 2003 and Nero are both paid for and bought? What kind of keyboard and logitech mouse (ball, optical, laser, wired, wireless)? Assuming the lowest specifications for all, I'd say you would be lucky to get a $300 deal, because it's easy to get a noticably better computer for $500 nowadays.

I would say, Since it is Older, and is not dual Core, it brings the value down, However, all the other Specs are above great, Making that is Older plus the Great Specs, I would Pay aroung 500-800 for it, I could be worth more but does not have vista and newer computers with vista are only around 600 dollars, so no more than 800 dollars MAX

Go to ebay.com and see what a competitive system is selling for. Probably about $200, but it depends on who manufactured it. It's slow, has little memory and the HDDs are too small. Few people want a CRT monitor - all LCD now. Keyboard and mouse worth maybe $10 combined.

Put it this way. I wouldn't buy it for $500.
The problem is, even if you paid a grand for it, systems are now available at X-Marts for the same price, with equal to or better than components, for new. People who can afford $500 for a computer, will buy a new version, maybe for slightly more.
Of course, try $500, but I think you should more realistically consider $200 - $300.

because of the older socket 423 pentium 4
and the older sdram instead of DDR2
is basically holding this computer back from being worth much
its worth about $145.00
you would be better off selling the motherboard and cpu with the memory and you would almost have half of what it would take to upgrade it to a newer one.
I am a pc builder and i could build a new one for 500 dollars.

Go to your local Craigslist, at www.craigslist.org, and check for similar systems being offered for sale.
I find that the prices being asked there tend to be more realistic than in newspapers, but yes, you still have to watch out for the crazies and stoopids.
Just today, I saw someone on my local CL offering a Pentium II 366MHZ machine with a 17" CRT monitor for $400. There's one guy who won't get any response.
