I have XP Home edition also, but with SP2 because my ATI Radeon 9200 card requires it...I recommend trying www.microsoft.com under the updates or downloads section if your windows is genuine it should download it and install. Otherwise try just turning your security updates on in control panel under security, then it should install automatically showing a yellow shield instead of red. If you still can install it then go back to www.microsoft.com and manually download it from a link.

go to start->Help & Support and click on windows update.
If your connection is very slow than you may want to get the update CD from Microsoft.
