And if you think it's fixed please provide me with legitimate and viable arguments and not some homer nonsense. Everyone says that the NFL was "rigged" in 2002 to allow the Patriots to win the Super Bowl because of 9/11. If this is so, then why didn't the New York Giants and the New York Jets play in the Super Bowl, since both of them play 20 minutes away from Ground Zero? Or why didn't Washington get a piece of that, since they also were part of it? Also, since the NFL is "rigged" again because of New Orleans doing so well, why didn't they just have them win it last year which would have been even more spectacular than them winning the Super Bowl this year?
Also how does the NFL decide which years to "fix" the games? Was it fixed during the WTC bombing of '93? Please if anyone knows the inner workings of the NFL explain it to me.

Oh and with your answer, also explain to me whether or not all teams are in on the fix? Does the fix entail instructing opposing teams' defenses to give up huge chunks of yardage and easy touchdowns? Do they opposing teams' to play badly? Or is the fix purely up to the referees?

I don't think the league is fixed. If that were the case there would have to be a number of factors that would have to be achieved for the fix to be on.
I think alot of fans just feel that way because their team loses games that they felt they should win.
Personally I'm rooting for the Saints, I think the reason the Saints have gotten where they have this season has been by the leadership of Drew Brees, and by the production they have gotten from Brees, Duece, and Reggie and the consistant play of their defense, and honestly I think they will go to the Superbowl, and honestly I hope they win. It would be great for the Saints to get that monkey off their backs about being a losers that they have branded with.

I don't think that the NFL is fixed....if it was fixed then they screwed up BADLY this year with the Bears. The truth is that Grossman really sucks. look @ the guy play. There maybe occasional bets between owners but i don't think that games are fixed. I mean the Saints really did do good this year. Ther is no doubt that they are a good football is Super Bowl bound. I mean if the NFL was really fixed then why did they let the Patriots win and not the other team win the Super Bowl. Why didn't NY Giants (my favorite team!) go to the super bowl. i mean this is a fair game. If the players were on steroids then the game wouldn't be fair. the league should be called the National Rigged Football League not he NFL.The game is what it is and its AMERICAN entertainment. the game just lets people enjoy what we do best.............watch football. if the game was rigged and fixed then we wouldn't be watching it until today.

Yes it is fixed!!
How do the saints do this damn good with such an average team.
And just because Leonard Little said it was fixed, why do the rams get all the bad calls!?!? I'm not a rams fan but c'mon!
And the Bengals had 2 HUGE calls going the other way the day before Stuart Scott agreed on what McAllister said about the Bengals. I'm not a Bengals fan either.
And just because Belichek was a ref for 2 seasons doesent mean they have to get every call.
And When Tom Coughlin cursed off the ref for a bad call and got ejected is when they had "the talk" before the game!
The 2006 season marks the debut of new officiating uniforms which are supposed to be more comfortable for officials to wear in extreme weather over the old polyester uniforms. The uniforms were designed by Reebok using Play Dry material techology to keep officials both warm and dry during the winter months of the season. On the shirt, the position and number are removed from the front pocket and the lettering and numbers on the back side are black-on-white and are smaller print and the sleeve shows the uniform number. Officials will also wear full-length black pants with white stripe during the winter months to stay warm. This was the first major design overhaul since 1979, when the position name was added to the shirt, but later abbreviated in 1982. After Tagliabue who was long time assistant coach of the Patriots got them the uniforms (cost free) the Patriots get the most critical call in the 2006 NFL season when they played the Jets and lost. Chance came out on them.

Try betting on sports and you'll see how the NFL and NBA are freaking fixed!!...In my opinion, YES!! NFL is somehow fixed. A person who watches sports without any money involved will never notice small flaws during games that will avoid a certain team to cover its given spread; but a sportsbettor knows. Just look what happened to the Eagles @ Saints game. The Saints were favored 5.5 points, they won, but they didn't cover, there was a lot of money on the Saints and the public wanted to see the Saints winning. So, that game pleased both the books and the public. FIXED!!
**Try betting NBA games and you'll see how those @!#$^% shave points** If somebody tells me that all these sports DOES NOT involve money, that person must be living in a dream where everything is soooo "sweet" and "pure." yeah right!!
Here's a very interesting example, tonight's NBA Cavaliers vs Trail Blazers game; the 2nd half over/under line was 91. When somebody wanted to lay $5,000.00 on the UNDER 91, 6 (SIX) big books said NO...why would they say no to a bet? must be something that they somehow know. Total score of the 2nd half was 92 (ONE POINT). I really don't believe that computers can compute that type of CLOSE ODDS. Probably not all the games are fixed, but many of them are. Why do you think sportscappers focus on the line movement before the teams stats?
edit// merchandise sales? LOL. Gosh! if they knew the revenue difference between gambling/casinos vs merchandise sales.

I completely agree that the league is not fixed. Then owners with the most money would bribe other owners for better players, maybe only marginally better but with such parity than it would still make a big difference. "that is why the game is played'' still holds true in every sport except pro wrestling which is so stupid that it should not even be considered a sport. The NFL is not rigged, and is still the best sport in america today.

If the NFL was fixed the Cowboy and the Raiders would be playing in the super bowl. They are #1 and # 2 in merchandise sale in the NFL.
They make up over 60% of sale.

I have heard some people who believe that they are fixed, but certainly I have seen no evidence of such...however, I always had a funny feeling about NASCAR's Dale Earnhardt Jr. winning a major race the year his dad died...either it was fixed, or the other drivers gave him the "green light" to win (just my opinion). As for the NFL, I don't think so.
