Alright so I have a new 1 week old iPod and I just turned it on and it starts this alarm type thing and I can't shut it off and none of the buttons will do anything please help.

wow. never had that do it to me. is it fully charged? it could be running out of batterey

Try restarting it put it on a flat surface press the middle button and the play pause button at the same time . It will usually restart the howl thing but it's harmless

ok listen, here's what you do: Go to imac.com and download the most recent verson of Itunes. Install Itunes onto your Desktop. Open Itunes up and connect your ipod to your computer. Register your ipod and whatever. Disconnect it and connect it again and hopefully Itunes will unlock it, it happened to me already so good luck.

try to hold down the menu and the middle button for a few seconds and see if that does anything
