What do you mean "Does it work"? It's health insurance. It pays for just about everything and you pay for nothing, so I guess it works.

It works for the recipients but not for the Dr who accepts it.
Not only do they get paid less than half of what they charge for an office visit. . . . For a $200.00 office visit/tests etc,the Dr receives about $70.00 and for a $38.00 office visit, the Dr receives approx.$17.00,Medicaid seems to really put the Dr through the wringers on the filing of Medicaid to get what little bit they say they will pay the Dr.
The patient gives the medical facility the name they want to be called whereas they have given Medicaid their legal name. When a Dr tries to file the papers needed to collect the little bit they get,the papers are kicked out because the name doesn't fit their records.
The Dr's billing people try to contact the patient but in most cases the patient doesn't feel like they owe the Dr anything and never answers the phone and or never returns the phone calls made to them. . . . in the end,the Dr gets denied as Medicaid has a 90day filing period and by the time paperwork gets to Medicaid and gets returned in the end it gets completely denied because the Dr office could not get the correct information in time if at all.
Medicaid recipients take this benefit for granted and more times than not will not show up on time or at all for their scheduled appointments and never call to cancel or change their appointments. . . they seem to think they can just show up whenever they want and get really really mad when they aren't accomodated.
Most but not all Medicaid recipients feel as though they get treated differently than those who aren't on Medicaid and because of such have been known for falsely reporting Dr's who have to be investigated and run through the wringer themselves wondering what the investigation is going to do to their reputations and practice.
Yes,Medicaid works but if you have a problem finding a Dr that takes Medicaid. . . .this is why and the number of Dr's taking Medicaid is declining because it is more trouble than it's worth and they can't afford the rise in their malpractice insurance due to the investigation brought on by an unwarranted investigation.

Actually people who qualify for Medicaid have better health care than a majority of the USA. Think about it go to the doctor when ever for free. Get medication for free. Most people would not run to the doctor for every little cough. Because they can't afford to.

If you are in reasonably good health, yes, it's good to have.

My family is on it and it has been a godsend.
