It depends on what you are looking for in a career, is it money or passion..? If you are thinking of switching to pre-dentistry because it is truly what you preferred, then some would say that it will be the most satisfying because its truly what you want. The only problem with that is that you never really know what you're getting into until you try it hands on. I was pre-med and just knew from the bottom of my heart I'd be a medical doctor until I realized I didn't like blood (lol) and the experience of people suffering. It was a small sacrifice to make given the great amount of discomfort, but I only knew that through experience and trying out what I thought was for me. Now, I'm in molecular biology research, and very happy. One thing led to the other as I felt my way around science in general, and really that's the only way to do things.

Second semester says you might loose a year in the transition, and that too is something to consider if you're particularly set on finishing up in a crisp 4yrs.

Not unless you have the aptitude for and the finances necessary to complete your education all the way to be a Dr of dentistry.
