Nope. There is a ton of money in sports - anything over high school should be self-supporting.

Big cities and States do put up money for Arenas for sports to bring in revenue yes. But to make a payroll for the participants no. That is what we call free enterprise, and we would not want them in our face about the world's famous passtimes right?
So they keep a low profile, some states do not build the arenas and have more higher priorities than a sports team because they have no revenue there for that type of thing, Like Wyoming or Rhode Island? No major teams there. Maybe someday we will have places there for Baseball in the Majors but not now. People are starving now in this country and the only prayer that is everyday is that we have a home left and food on the table let alone being able to afford a ticket at a National basketball or football game? Have you seen the prices lately for a major league baseball game? My goodness what kid can afford that? And as an adult I won't. Rather watch it on Cable. And save money.

In general, no. If a state had the opportunity to 1) provide money for a sports arena/stadium or 2) provide money for a company to relocate or open a factory, it'd probably provide more benefit to the state's economy (more jobs, better paying jobs, and the resulting tax revenues) not to provide money for a sports facility.

No, tax dollars should not be used for sport teams. Unfortunately government doesn't spend wisely and citizens are not strong enough (lack the willpower) to boycott the taxpayer subsidized sports teams.

No.

Sports teams are private companies. Tax dollars should in no circumstances be used to fund private companies.

There's enough sports already! We the taxpayers don't need to pay for anymore!
