In my opinion, the best vocalist is Patti Labelle, the woman has range out of this world that most people cannot hit, shes been in the business for over 50 years, many artists LOOK up to her...shes just the greatest...and one thing about her, shes never lost her range and her vocal abilities, shes simply the greatest...

It's really all a matter of opinion. Anyone could say their favourite artist is the best in the world, but there will always be someone who thinks otherwise. I personally think Amy Lee of Evanescence has a great voice, but again, not everyone thinks the same way. Everyone has their own opinion, and I think it's best to just go with that.

Wish you hadn't said is. Now i'm going to have to think of someone who isn't dead. And the trouble these days is that all this girls have their voices touched up in the studio. There is an Australian Jazz type singer called Rose Bygrave who used to be in the band Goanna. I guess i'll choose her out of the living.
Out of those who have left us, Sandy Denny was a cut above the rest for mine.
