Stephen King grew up a Methodist Christian I believe. He purports not to be a religious person, yet he also claims that he believes in a higher power like God and that there is spiritual side to him. He is also, as someone pointed out before me, a strong believer in there being a battle between good and evil in this universe. Based on all the interviews I've read about King, and I've read quite a few, I've always sensed him to be a God-fearing man who would never ever dabble in the Dark Arts. He writes horror stories, sure, but that does not make him a Satanists or evil soul. He just has a very good imagination at times.
