I HAVE A FRIEND THAT MADE A CRAPPY LIVING SAVING OUR FREEDOM ON ONE OF BULL HALSEY'S TIN CANS AND HE WAS AN ANTI-AIRCRAFT LOADER AND HE SAYS HIS PAY WAS INCREASED IF THEY BECAME UNDER ENEMIES FIRE -THIS WAS CALLED COMBAT PAY, I THINK HE SAID IT WAS 3CENTS MORE TO HAVE THE JAPS TRYING TO BLOW HIM OUT OF THE SOUTH PACIFIC THAN IT WAS TO JUST WALK AROUND POLISHING THE BRASS
