Be less available, on the phone, etc.....the less available you are the more she will look elsewhere for entertainment/support. You don't have to completely lose her friendship, but can have less and less contact as time goes on.

Well all I can think of, if I where in your place is, I'd have to get real busy with something that would supposedly be taking up a lot of my time that could not include this person being around.

My husband & I have just gotten into a Bible Study class that is quite involved and will go through the entire Bible in one year. A lot of homework with a workbook and is very time consuming.
~~~~~~~ nutty friend would fit between here~~~~~~~~~~~~
What I am trying to illiustrate here is that we were involved with friends and Yahoo answers on the internet, now this is on the back burner because the Bible Study will keep us to busy.
Hope I don't sound like your nutty friend.here. ha ha.
I wish you luck in your gentle approach. Have a Happy 2007 !!!
If she's so dumb then I say next time you encounter each other pretend you don't know her...she'll think nothing of it. Good luck.
Gently tell them that you need more space. Explain why.
Just move and change your numbers. She might be too dumb to even notice.
