England - Owen Hargreaves. Mind you, you said the star of the national teams and Owen was the best English player by far in the World Cup, eclipsing Steven Gerrard.
Holland - Robin van Persie: He will prove to be a great player. His left foot is certainly lethal.
Greece - Georgios Karagounis: I don't know if he's still playing, but from what I can remember from Euro 2004, he was the heart of the team. Else, nowadays, there's Georgios Samaras.
Italy - Andrea Pirlo is the real star for me. Forget about Cannavarro, coz Pirlo was the quiet leader who dictated the pace of the game. Remember his pass for Fabio Grosso when every1 was expecting him to shoot.
France - Thierry Henry: After Zidane's retirement, he has to be the obvious choice even though he does not play with France like he does with Arsenal. Else, I would opt for Franck Ribery
Spain - Fernando Torres: He singlehandedly qualified Spain for the 2nd stage of the world cup, with a little help from David Villa.
Portugal - Cristiano Ronaldo: No doubt there. Don't think any comments are needed after his scintillating displays.
Sweden - Zlatan Ibrahimovic: Is a proved striker who can change a game in one stroke. Yet is somewhat individualistic. The other star player would be Ljungberg
Germany - Miroslav Klose is a more important man for germany than Ballack, with his goals. He is a supreme poacher who can score anytime.
