There is absolutely no truth to the wives tales of heartbeat, ring on string, urine color, Chinese charts, etc. A 20 week ultrasound will tell you for sure. The only hint with a scientific basis would be if you seem to be having naughty dreams at night, which could indicate increasing testosterone levels in the blood, resulting from a developing baby boy.

Good luck!

You cant tell from that. Its an old wives tale. I have had 3 boys and Im 30 weeks pregnant with my first girl and they have all had different heart rates. Anywhere from 130 to 160. My daughters is usually 130 to 140 something. And so were the boys sometimes.

I don't think that's a very reliable method for determining the gender. I was reading up on that earlier in my pregnancy and I found that the heart rate was based on the age of the fetus, not on the sex. Heart rates of boys and girls were relatively the same. Only an ultrasound in your second or third trimester will be able to tell you, but even that's not 100% accurate.

old wives tales state that boys have lower heart rate and girls higher
i think they say higher than 150 a girl lower than 150 a boy,
however that is not true in my case. my 1st a girl her heart rate was always low 140s my second a boy high 150s.
you can't tell until the ultrasound at 18-24 weeks. sorry

The old wives' tale is that fast heartbeats are for girls and slow heartbeats are for boys. It really is just a folktale. Studies have shown it is only accurate about 50% of the time. You're just as likely to predict your baby's gender correctly by flipping a coin.

It's fun to guess, though, of course. Unfortunately, a heartrate in the 150s is average, so it's neither high or low.

boys usually have a lower heart rate, but my first baby had a low one and it was a girl. thats just an old wives tale. but go onto ivillage.com and in the pregnancy section there are a few fun "signs" to predict what sex you're having! i'm 12 weeks preg. right now and my baby has a heartbeat of 179, but that wouldn't mean it's a girl or a boy. i'll have to wait too!

Actually, the old wives tale says that the heartbeat above 150 is a boy and below is a girl. But, that's incrediably inaccurate :))

Check out the Chinese calendars online. They go by the month you conceived and the age you were at conception. That has been most accurate in my family. It worked last time...now we'll see if it works this time!

a girl. girls tend to have faster heart rates than boys. my best friend had a boy and his heart rate was always around 115-125. i am having a girl and her heart rate was 150 at the first ultrasound, now that she is bigger it's about 130.

You can't tell. Every fetus starts out w/ a heartbeat of 160-170 and that gradually decreases throughout the pregnancy. Sorry, but you will have to wait until your 20 week sonogram.
