Follow the directions on the door of the furnace. If this seems complicated,call a professional.

If it has a pilot light, then this must be lighted first. Turn the knob to pilot. Light a match and hold it to the thermo coupling. It will warm it up and it will allow gas to come out the pilot hole. It will stay lite if the thermocoupler is good. If it is not, then it will have to be replaced.

If you really can't understand this, then please call a service person to do this. It will take about 2 minutes.
