Windows firewall filters incomming packets only. Unlike literally every other firewall, it allows all outgoing packets to leave your computer without an alert. This is not a good thing if you should have, let's say, a trojan, "phoning home" in order to steal your data. Nope not good at all!

An excellent free and very strong firewall is Comodo Personal Firewall. It can pass firewall "leak tests" that even most of the "paid-for" firewalls cannot pass.

And Comodo has a great support forum. Where the CEO / President of the company (Melih) might even himself answer your question! Check it out at:

Or if you prefer a good and free firewall that is extremely easy on using your computers system resources, then Kerio 2.1.5 is just about the lightest firewall there is. Uses about 4 MB RAM on my machine.

Although it is no longer officially supported by the makers of Kerio, there is a great Kerio 2.1.5 support forum at
http://www.dslreports.com/forum/kerio
to help and guide you if you have any problems.

2.1.5 is availible for free at:

you need a 3rd party firewall and antivirus to protect and secure you pc. I recommend Norton because i have been using this for 6 year and all my pc did not infected with any virus or spyware even did not have any hacker come in before. But the newer version need high speed computer to install it, otherwise you pc make leake or gatting slow when boot up, if you are using the old or slow pc or don;t want you pc to be slow down you can use the older version like Norton 2002.

Happy Trying...

I don't know about Zone Alarm, but I don't recommend Comodo. I tried it and it nearly brought my computer to a halt. It interrutped and prevented my wireless from connecting, it stopped downloads, and it took nearly a week to get someone from Comodo to figure out what to do, and even then I had trouble getting rid of it.

Windows' firewall isn't too bad, considering the alternatives. Panda gives you a free trial, then you either buy it or uninstall it. So, I guess that leaves zonealarm. Try it yourself and see if you like it.

I use Norton 360 and love it. I used to have ATT security suite and it was horrible. It let so many viruses into my computer that it finally died. So I recently bought the current one and put the Norton 360 on in and have never looked back.
