If you attained such a high score on the SAT, you would know whether or not a 3.00 is a good GPA!!!

Maybe, maybe not. Your SAT score is excellant--but a 3.0--especially with that SAT--indicates you don't work to your potential. You should apply to the two schools--you may get in (most likely UCLA, but you might luck out and get both).
But don't count on it. You will need to convince them you will be a better student than your grades indicate--they aren't bad, don't get me wrong--but you're going to have toexplain why they aren't at least 3.5, given your SAT.
I'm in Atlanta, and I suggest you "keep the door open" at Clark. But also--given this is Georgia--MAKE SURE your GPA at graduation is at that 3.0 level--and you will be eligible for the Hope scholarship if you attend school anywhere in Georgia.
If you don't get into one of your chosen schools and you really have your heart set on it, don't give up--there's a way to get there in a year or two if you really want to. That is to do the following: go ahead and start at Clark--or Georgia State (its cheaper, especially with Hope--and is a good school) for about the first two years--and make sure your academic star SHINES--3.5 and not one bit less. And do the usual extracurricular stuff (community service stuff is good). Do that, then reapply to the schools you really want--and you will get in. That kind of academic record--at the college level--will tell them you are not only able--but willing--to be a top student. At that point, they won't care what your high school GPA was.

If you haven't received an answer from both ucla and syracuse by now, hope that people from those schools read this forum and post you answers. Otherwise, apply to those schools and wait for an answer from both.
About your performance. Obviously, your performance on the SAT shows you have more potential than your B average (3.0 GPA). I don't know what the schools will think of that. But, if I may speculate (give my opinion), I think it may reflect adversely on you that your GPA performance is not up the par with your SAT score.

I suggest that you purchase (or look at in your local/school library) the latest available edition of the Fiske Guide to Colleges. Several pages are written about both schools and you can get a much better feel for what you'd like/not like about both of them. UCLA's academics are rated SLIGHTLY higher than Syracuse (3 1/2 out of 5 vs. 3 ) and both schools are rated 3 out of 5 on Social Life and Quality of Life.
Have you visited both of the schools? I'd bet that would have a big impact ... ie which school "fits" or "feels" better to you, when you're there. I know it isn't particularly practical to visit them both from Atlanta, though.
Good luck!!!

Selection criteria can vary from year to year depending upon the applicant pool. The student's personal statement, letters of recommendation, extracurricular activities and overall academic potential are also considered.
There are many different scholarships you can start applying for, however to actually be admitted into UCLA the minimum requirements are:
(.........can be found in the source...........)
However, if you don't get in, don't be so discouraged, just identify how you can improve your chances of proving that you have the potential by getting prepared. Hey, if you're wondering whether you should do one thing or another, try finding the minimum requirements of each university and then compare that to your own opinion of each institution.

your grade point average isnt wonderfull but it is a B average and your sat score is good. Have you been scouted at all by either of the schools that you want to attend. I really think that if you go through the proper channels you shouldnt have a problem getting into either school. Just apply and see what happens. Go for UCLA its one of the best schools out there and they have a great football program. sorry Im partial to UCLA.

I really hope that you released your SAT scores to Syracuse and UCLA.
With SAT scores like that, a solid B average and athletic ability, I think that you should get ready for a flood of scholarship offers.
If you haven't contacted UCLA or Syracuse yet, do it. I've linked you to both schools below.
Good luck!

try to get an application for both schools, (just a tip i heard syracuse is a little better than UCLA, but i live around ucla so it might just be false gossip, but w/e) the ucla campus is pretty big, also i asked one of my friends sister (who goes there) how much it is and its about 25-30k a semester.
and 3.0 is kinda decent but now colleges look for more, try to learn another language, bi(or tri)lingual looks good on an application.

I can't say about Clark-- but I do know about UCLA.
To up your chances of acceptance (which are good), you can apply as a major that is not impacted or as popular. OR they often tell you if you agree to attend another UC school that is not as big, they will give you automatic acceptance into UCLA in 2 years.

It depends on a lot of things. That GPA is not bad. I'm sure your SAT score is good and if you are good at football, that may mean everything. You could go to Clark, raise your GPA and switch to one of the others.

There is no way that you can score that high on your SAT and only have a 3.0 grade point average. If your SAT score is correct then yes, you could probably get into those schools but you better get your GPA up or they may not consider you.
