Answer the question yourself...
Imagine your selling apples on the market and a limo pulls up, the mega rich arab inside steps out flashing a roll of fifty pound notes and asks how many of them do you want for a granny smith?
Actually I dont believe the price does go up. United unlike their idiot fans are not so stupid to enquire after a player as United merely as a premier league club. The rep agrees a price with the selling club and then they player is the informed and United is named.

Unfortunatly becuase they know we are a rich team and that we have alot of money. The same thing happens with Chelsea when they go after a player the players price will rise dramatically. One player we went after and the price was raised alot was Fernando Torres of Atletico Madrid

It happens to other clubs as well. It is a supply and demand market. If the player is good, everyone will want to buy them. The player's club will want to sell his player at the highest price. So the club with the highest bid will win the bidding price. The smaller clubs will be outbid by the bigger clubs. But the buying club will not get their player until they have agreed with the player on his personal package.

B'cos it is the richest club in the world. Smaller clubs can no longer hold on to their prize asset as they wanted to cash in on them. It is business world out there, $$$ makes the world go round!
Nowadays there are many poor clubs getting poorer and rich clubs are expanding their team with multi million $$ advertisings and endoresments. So this is the real scenario now, if you end up in the right club your status will grow!

because teams know how much money man u and chelsea have. they know therefore that they can charge more and man u could still afford it. also, the top few richest clubs get into bidding wars with each other, and that drives up rpices
