She was born in 1965 which means she'll be 42 this year. Shirley Henderson was the perfect choice for the role of Moaning Myrtle. She has that (almost creepy) childlike voice and she's very petite so she can pass for a much younger person. If they had used a real child in the role, she would have aged too much between filming Chamber of Secrets and the (hopefully) eventual filming of Deathly Hallows.

The actress who played the ghost character Moaning Myrtle in two, the second and fourth, of the Harry Potter films ("Chamber of Secrets" and "Goblet of Fire") is named Shirley Henderson. Henderson was born November 24, 1965. So that would have made her about 37 when "Chamber" was released and almost 40 when "Goblet" was released last year in 2005. So she had to have been between 35-36 when she originally filmed her first appearance in the films, thus making her about 20 years older than her character's supposed actual age of about 15-16 as a student at Hogwarts.
