I'm a smoker and I love the idea. That's a law in some US states too. It's unfair for nonsmokers and even smokers, especially employees at establishments to be exposed to all that 2nd hand smoke. Some places have some exceptions, like private clubs, designated smoking areas, casinos, the back room of cigar shops...

I agree with that because in places where they have seperate sections, there ususally isn't a very good divider so smoke can still travel around the restaurants. I know of some people who work in places where smoking is allowed and they have lung cancer from second-hand smoke. I don't think it's fair to have to be subjected to that if you've made the decision not to smoke yourself. If smokers really need to smoke, they can just go outside.

This is not just limited to Ottowa. This is a revolution all around the world.
Ireland - no smoking in public places, except of designated areas.
Australia - no smoking in clubs, restaurants, parks, playing fields, sports centres, swimming centres, anywhere where there is children, cars if there is a child present, or on government land.
It is governments trying to protect the health of those who do not smoke, and encourage smokers to stop smoking and better what is left of their life.

I think it is.. partly, they should be able to, just away from other people in the resturant, have their own section, like they did...
Btw, they do that here in NE too.
