I'm a childcare provider. I charge $7.00 for one and an additional $3.50 for the 2nd child so for 2 others I might just add 1.50 to make it an even $12.00 an hour. I have over 15 years experience and people don't mind paying more because of that.
It all depends on how long they expect to be gone. You want to make it worth your time as well. If you want to be their regular babysitter, you don't want to overcharge or they may not ask you to babysit again. Do they make a good living? You get what you pay for. I think $10.00 would be good and you might be surprised with a tip. I get a lot of large tips...especially when they find that the children are well taken care of, I gave them all my attention (no phone or t.v. unless it's with them, etc.)
You should ask what they usually pay a sitter and set your price to the same or more.

holy cow. Good luck!!!!
well i babysit one little girl whose a year and a half. And i get 8 dollars an hour. And ten on weekdays, or when i babysit late.
Since its' family you can't really say i want 30 bucks an hour. I get ripped off babysitting for my aunt and uncle. Usually end up getting paid around five dollars an hour for two extremely hyper kids.
The general rule is...
$7/8 an hour. +1 for every kid + and extra dollar for every kid in diapers.
I'd say at least ten an hour. if not more.
since i don't know how old the kids are.
hope this helps.

It might depend on how many hours at a time your sitting. The fewer hours the higher the hourly rate. Like 1-3 hours $10.- $15. per hour, 4-8 hours $10. - $12.00....if it is for an entire day or weekend, come up with a daily rate. Be sure he is providing food for all of you if it is appropriate.

How many hours are you keeping them? What does he expect you to do with / for them when your sitting? Taking these questions into account and whatever the average babysitter makes per hour, charge him that way. Don't feel guilty, regardless what he is to you. It's your time and effort---few things come for free in the babysitting world.

4 dollars an hr. and impress him with with your work. Make sure the kids are fed and bathed when he returns so his job is made easier upon returning. If your good at what you do you can almost set any price, it really depends on what people can afford. But I think 4 dollars an hour is fair even for a family member.

you do not mention your age under 18 or over and the ages of the kids..... if you are an adult i would suggest $15.00 per hour and infyou are under 18 4 kids are to much to handle on a regular basis....[if it is a one time thing you might be able to handle it for a short time, and 10 per hour would be good for you]

Absolute minimum would be $2.00 per hour per child, so $8.00 per hour would be the minimum. If the children are small, or require a lot of attention/ supervision the cost should go up.
