Eraser is a free utility that you could right click on a file or folder and select a secure delete option from the context menu. There is an option to erase files you have sent to your Recycle Bin. You also have the option of wiping all the free space on your HD.

It has settings for 1, 3, 7 and 35 passes. Selecting 7 should be enough to prevent any recovery program from retrieving the file, short of a forensic recovery. The 35 pass should make the files absolutely irretrievable by any means, but 35 passes will take some time on large files and would take forever on a free space cleaning

Check the settings under: Edit > Preferences > Erasing and set "Files" and "Unused Disk Space" to 7.

Yes, there are actually many, some free, some pay-for. Off the top of my head, if I'm not mistaken, I believe that the well known anti-Spyware program Spybot has a feature like that somewhere. Googling will bring you many other programs, just make sure that they are legitimate programs that do not have an Spyware hidden in them. Good luck.

programs leave bits all over the place, but if your sure it's gone, the only other place where you may find something from the program is the registory. registory cleaners sometimes clean too good. beware.

try www.sys-shield.com/fileshredder.htm
or just google file shredder and try one of those sites. you want something that doesn't just delete, it writes over your deleted files.
