I have medicaid, and yes it does take like 30 days for it to be complete, but you can go to the doctor and get your prenatal pills and everything. Everything is covered as soon as your case worker opens your case. It does take some time to get your card in the mail though, but usually after the case is open, you can just go to your ob/gyn and your new insurance will be listed under your name and you can use it. I know its kinda scary, but it will work out. Its not nearly as confusing as it seems, once you get going. and the good thing is, medicaid covers everything! No bills!!!

My social worker didn't even file my papers for a month. But your doctor is just being picky. He should see you anyways and they can bill Medicaid later. How sure are you this is a great doctor? In regards to the answer above me, yes once you go in once and set up Medicaid with your case worker you are set up and ready but it takes a while to get your card. Tell your doc you are already approved just waiting for the card and if he still doesn't see you find someone that will. You don't have to wait for Medicaid cause they can bill Medicaid for doctors bills that are up to 45 days old.

you can ask for a sheet that verifies that you have medicaid (if you don't already have a card) then the will work to use right away. if you have had Medicaid in the past just not straight it goes in Th system pretty quickly, but other than that it does take at least a week.
i would ask for proof that you have it so you can schedule app, and get prenatal vitamins right away-they shouldn't have a problem giving it to you just tell them you have an app. and th edr office asked for something to verify. if they won't give it to you, you can always go and then turn the bill into the mediciad and they'll turn around a nd pay.
but other than that it does take awhile to recieve itin the mail, not to be put on that goes fairly quickly.

It takes about 30 days, but when your application is approved it is call MA so you can see a doctor when you recieve the letter you just have to take it with you then yo can select the medicare insurence group you want, bit of advice though when yo select you insurence plan make sure the peditrician you choose accepts the same one as you because the baby will be covered by you for 30 days after birth before they have there own card.

In my experience you can still go to the doctor and such if needed or for prenatal care while waiting. It may be different where you live but here they go back 3 months or so from when you are approved. If you paid cash for any prescriptions in that time I hope you have receipts because sometimes you can turn those in too and get your money back.
If nothing else, call your case worker and find out what your state/county's policy is.

If you have a doctor's appointment, you can get a temporary card from your state office. You should get a card in the mail, though, in no more than a couple of weeks. You are covered 100% from the date your case worker approves you.

In Texas and Nevada, where I had it. It took a week to get the letter saying I had it. Then I had to wait for the card which took another 2 weeks. You can take the letter with you to the doctor and they will usually be able to use that as proof until you get your card. For the pharmacy, you'll have to wait for the card.

The hospital has a system they use to verify medicaid to see if it's active. Medicaid can also be back date up to three-months. So go when ever you want to see the doctor.

I was at the doctors office the day I was approved--it took a matter of 5 minutes.--I signed up then and there through the doctors office I went to.
you will get the necessary stuff in the mail in a couple weeks--but you can start seeing a doctor right away
